As rain moves east across the Panhandle and North Florida, the number of wildfires is dropping.
The threat from fires remains, though.
Most of the state is under exceptional or extreme drought conditions and rain this week and into the weekend won’t be enough to counter months of little to no rain.

Currently, burn bans have been issued for 46 of Florida’s 67 counties, including most of the Panhandle and northern Florida.
Here’s where all active wildfires are burning across Florida April 29, according to the Florida Forest Service.

As of 1 p.m. April 29, there were 82 active wildfires burning 15,492 acres across Florida.
According to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, between Jan. 1 and April 26 in Florida there have been:

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 1 p.m. April 29 no major roads were closed due to fires or smoke.
