The Florida State Seminoles’ recognition and historical successes have made it a perennial contender no matter the season, and while the last few years have been lean years, preseason polls still look favorably upon them.
Lindy’s Sports preseason rankings feature all 138 FBS teams, from the No. 1 Oregon Ducks to the No. 138 UMass Minutemen, and FSU is debuting as the No. 48 in the country, which in the top third of all teams, even if it is far below their lofty standards.
The magazine has a side quote for FSU, saying, “Forgive Norvell for wondering what happened. Must-win year.” In addition, they are rated as the 11th-best ACC team, sandwiched between No. 47 NC State and No. 55 Duke nationally.
Miami is rated as the best ACC program, debuting at No. 7 in their poll. Stanford is the last-place team in their ACC rankings, at No. 95 nationally.
Florida State opens its 2026 season hosting the New Mexico State Aggies in Tallahassee on Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. ET. Fans can catch the game on the CW Network.
