Florida State has had 2028 four-star safety Cyion Smith, a former commit of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, in their sights for quite a while. He visited twice in 2024, three times in 2025, and he’s already visited twice this year.
That’s a ton of trips for Smith to Tallahassee, but up until this point he hadn’t gotten an offer from the Seminoles. That all changed on Friday night as the 6-foot-3, 175 announced that they have extended him a scholarship.
“Florida State Offered !!, Smith said on social media.
FSU is one of around 20 offers that Smith had on the table. The Oregon Ducks, Miami Hurricanes, Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers, and North Carolina Tar Heels are some of the other offers he has.
Smith is the nation’s No. 228 recruit and the No. 19 safety per 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also listed as the state of Florida’s No. 32 prospect.
His first two seasons of high school football have been very productive. Smith racked up 64 tackles, one tackle for loss, four interceptions, 12 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries during his freshman year. He would put up 50 tackles, four tackles for loss, seven interceptions, 10 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery during his sophomore season.
Smith clearly has a ton of interest in Florida State with how frequently he’s visited them. They need to get him on campus for an official visit soon now that he’s gotten an offer.
