The recruitment of 2028 four-star safety DeNairo Girton Jr. has exploded during the spring and summer months. He’s up to around 20 scholarship offers, and Florida State was added to the mix on Tuesday afternoon when he announced their offer on social media.
“Blessed to receive an offer from Florida State University ,” Girton said.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder is the No. 150 overall prospect and the No. 13 safety in the country, per the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also ranked as the No. 6 recruit in the state of Maryland.
Girton’s sophomore season was a strong one for Great Mills High School. He racked up 31 tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery. He ran back his fumble recovery for a touchdown as well as one of his interceptions.
With the other programs Girton has on his offer list, FSU will need to be consistent in its communication if they want to land him. He also has offers from the Indiana Hoosiers, Michigan Wolverines, Penn State Nittany Lions, Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Tennessee Volunteers.
