Florida State has announced the new voice of Doak Campbell Stadium, and it will be a familiar name to many.
Former Seminoles offensive lineman and current radio voice of FSU baseball, Eric Luallen, has been named the public address announcer for the stadium.
“I am incredibly humbled to be given this opportunity, in this stadium, almost 40 years to the day after I reported for my first practice under Coach Bowden,” Luallen said in a press release sent out by the university.
“I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have the honor to serve my alma mater through my 20 seasons as the radio voice of FSU baseball and now also this opportunity with Florida State football.”
Luallen succeeds Woody Hayes, who served in the role for 16 years.
A former offensive lineman under Bobby Bowden, Luallen was part of 11-1 seasons in both 1987 and 1988, defeating No. 3 Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl to end the 1987 season and beating No. 4 Auburn in the Sugar Bowl to cap the 1988 campaign, before a 10-2 record with a win over No. 5 Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl his senior season.
He’s broadcast 984 baseball games and called six College World Series appearances since starting his baseball broadcasting career with the university in 2007.
His first game as the new voice of Doak will be on Saturday, Aug. 29, when the Seminoles open the season against New Mexico State.
