There is just one more spot in the Little League Baseball Southeast Region championship game, and the kids from Tallahassee have one last chance at it.
After losing to Alabama on Sunday, 8-5, the kids from the Chaires-Capitola Little League take on the best from Nolensville, Tennessee, for the spot in the title game on Tuesday.
But in order to get through Monday, Florida will need a little more offense. They scored five runs against Alabama, but only one of those runs were earned after Alabama committed four errors. The leader on Sunday was Kai Stephens, who had two hits, including a solo home run.

Florida bows out of Little League Southeast Regional after 4-0 loss to Tennessee
Down four runs in their final at-bat, the Chaires-Capitola Little League All-Stars from Tallahassee needed some instant offense from the bottom of the lineup. Hayden Butler drew a leadoff walk, but Kenny Chen’s grounder to third was expertly turned into a 5-4-3 double play.
Preston Bikus slapped a two-out single to right and, on a full-count pitch, Xavier Schenck singled. But as he reached his pitch limit for the day, Tennessee pitcher Carter Clark got Kai Stephens to ground back to the pitcher to end the game.
Clark pitched a complete game shutout, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out two.

Tennessee gets big insurance run in Little League Southeast Regional
Florida sent a new pitcher to the mound in Kai Stephens, and Tennessee responded with some more offense. Hollis Smith drew a leadoff walk and Brady Packard’s sacrifice bunt was nearly a hit after a nice defensive play by Stephens. But Julian Frazier came up with the clutch hit, an RBI single to left-center, to make it 4-0.
Florida Little League unable to capitalize on scoring chance in the fifth
With two outs in the fifth inning, Florida’s Jordan Murray legged out a grounder to deep short. Jacob Ross followed with a walk to send the tying run to the plate in the form of Oliver Prowant. Though he doubled in his first at-bat, Prowant ended the inning with a fly out to left.
Florida Little League offense quieted by Tennessee
Through the first time through the order, the Florida offense could only muster one hit (double by Oliver Prowant) and a walk by Kai Stephens. But the first major scoring chance against Tennessee pitcher Carter Clark came in the fourth, when Stephens and Landon DelPrado hit back-to-back two-out singles up the middle. But Camden Arnold’s fly out to deep center ended the threat, keeping Florida off the scoreboard.
Florida falls into hole after error costs them dearly
Harrison Pawelczyk was mostly in control through the first two innings on the mound for Florida. In the third, a leadoff walk to Carter Clark led to a runner on third with one out after a wild pitch and a dropped third strike. Lincoln Franks then walked and later stole second base. Hollis Smith then bunted for a single, though the runners did not advance. Pawelczyk struck out Brady Packard and got Julian Frazier to hit a grounder to third. But Kai Stephens’ throw to first pulled the first baseman off the bag to drive in the game’s first run.
On the next pitch, Callen Williams lined a ball over the shortstop’s head for a two-run single, Williams’ second hit of the day.

Where is Chaires-Capitola Little League from?
Chaires Little League plays primarily at Daniel B. Chaires Community Park in Tallahassee, the capital of Florida. The city is located on the Florida Panhandle. Their home park is close to 15 miles east of Doak Campbell Stadium, home of the Florida State football team.
