New DeSantis-appointed judge sworn in at Santa Rosa Courthouse

Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed a new judge in Santa Rosa County who was sworn in Monday to fill a vacant seat.

Patrick King, a former assistant state attorney, was selected by DeSantis from a pool of six attorneys sent to the governor’s desk in June.

“It is my pleasure to appoint you to the Santa Rosa County Court,” DeSantis wrote in a letter to King. “Your appointment is evidence of my utmost confidence in your ability to serve with excellence and distinction.”

The Office of the State Attorney noted King was sworn in Aug. 10 surrounded by colleagues from his office.

King took the place of Matt Gordon, whom DeSantis elevated to circuit judge in Escambia County.
