Florida State got a huge commitment on Monday morning when four-star legacy wide receiver Devin Carter flipped his pledge to FSU from the Auburn Tigers. The Seminoles have their eyes on another flip prospect, and that’s four-star cornerback Jay Timmons, who is currently committed to the Indiana Hoosiers.
The Seminoles made an offer to Timmons on June 1 when he was on campus for their Elite Camp. This past weekend, Timmons was back in Tallahassee for an official visit, and that has led Steve Wiltfong of On3 to put in the second prediction for FSU to land Timmons in the last several days.
“Carter isn’t the only legacy flip on the radar. Lawrence Jay Timmons is trending towards Florida State following a recent offer and visit. The four-star defensive back ranks as the nation’s No. 32 cornerback.”
Timmons is the nation’s No. 342 overall prospect and the No. 32 cornerback in the country per On3’s industry rankings. They also have the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder as the No. 13 recruit in Pennsylvania.
Before Timmons left Tallahassee, he mentioned what it meant to him to be back on campus.
“This has just been a life-long dream of mine,” Timmons told Noles247. “It is something that I’ve thought about since I was born, just being down here. Being back down where I was born and where my dad played at, where mom has all these memories that she’s told me about. It’s just has a special place in my heart.”
Timmons was a beast on both sides of the ball as a junior. He had 42 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, both of which resulted in touchdowns, 10 pass breakups, four interceptions (ran back two for scores), and recorded a safety. Timmons also hauled in 40 receptions for 755 yards and eight touchdowns.
