Florida softball will have to wait a little longer to fight for its season.
The Gators’ NCAA Super Regional Game 2 vs. Texas Tech will be delayed by an hour and five minutes – from 12:30 p.m. to 1:35 p.m. Rain began to fall in Gainesville around 10:30 a.m. but the forecast is expected to clear around 1 p.m.
The game is still expected to air on ABC despite the delay. Fans have already begun to line up outside Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium waiting for the gates to open and braving the elements.
UF will need to be locked in with its season on the line. The Gators fell 10-8 vs the Red Raiders Friday afternoon in Game 1 of the Super Regional in a masterful comeback that came up just short.
Florida trailed 7-1 to TTU in the fifth inning but scored seven runs in the last two innings – capped off by a three run Ava Brown homer. However, Mia Williams played hero in the seventh inning with a go ahead two run homer to give Texas Tech a 10-8 lead as NiJaree Canady finished it off in the bottom of the seventh.
“We just got to stay with our plan,” Brown said. “We came in with a good plan.”
