Florida police find body decomposing near Orchid Island community

The Vero Beach Police Department is investigating the discovery of a deceased person on Orchid Island not far from the Riomar community.

The individual was found “in an advanced stage of decomposition” about noon May 27 in the area of the 2000 block of Cove Drive, off the west side of State Road A1A, according to the Vero Beach Police Department on social media.

Cove Drive, in the Riomar Bay neighborhood, is roughly 2 miles north of South Beach Park.

The investigation remains active, and no additional information is being released pending further investigative efforts, according to Police Officer Kelsea Marty.
