Will a $2 Florida Lottery ticket make someone a millionaire ahead of Friday the 13th and Valentine’s Day? As they say in the lottery business, “it could happen to you” − even on a holiday.
After one lucky ticket from a BJ’s Wholesale Club Liquors in Clermont, Florida, matched all six numbers in the Wednesday, Feb. 4, Florida Lotto drawing for $21.5 million, the jackpot reset to $1 million for the Super Bowl weekend drawing on Saturday, Feb. 7. After the 2nd rollover, the prize increased to $1.25 million for Wednesday, Feb. 11, draw. Wednesday’s winning Florida Lotto numbers were 16-25-35-38-39-40. Double Play numbers were 23-29-37-38-42-53. We’ll see if there’s a winner two days before Friday the 13th and ahead of Valentine’s Day.
In case you’re wondering, Saturday, Feb. 7, winning Florida Lotto numbers were 49-30-26-21-42-51. Double Play numbers were 18-33-2-47-52-16.
Below is what to know about lottery odds, how long to claim the cash option if you bought a ticket in Florida, and what happens to unclaimed prize money, according to the Florida Lottery.
Winning Florida Lotto numbers for Wednesday, February 11, 2026? 16-25-35-38-39-40
Florida Lotto drawings are at 11:15 p.m. ET every Wednesday and Saturday, including holidays. Wednesday, Feb. 11, winning Florida Lotto numbers were 16-25-35-38-39-40. Double Play numbers were 23-29-37-38-42-53. We’ll see if there’s a winner or another rollover ahead of Friday the 13th and Valentine’s Day holidays.
Has anyone won a big lottery jackpot on Friday the 13th?
Yes! A single ticket was purchased in Maine for the Jan. 13, 2023, Mega Millions drawing. The winner remains anonymous through a trust and accepted their winnings of $1.35 billion through the limited liability company LaKoma Island Investments LLC, according to a Feb. 22, 2023, story in USA TODAY.
Jan. 13, 2023, was Friday the 13th. The number 13 typically is referred to as an unlucky number, and it’s associated with horror films.
Fun fact: Three tickets purchased in California, Florida and Tennessee won the Jan. 13, 2016, Powerball drawing, splitting $1.586 billion. In 2016, FLORIDA TODAY reported Maureen Smith and David Kaltschmidt bought their winning Powerball ticket at a Publix in Melbourne Beach.
While Jan. 13, 2023, was a Friday the 13th, Jan. 13, 2016, was not (it was a Wednesday). The odds of a billion-dollar jackpot being won on the same date going forward? Likely pretty low.
According to the Mega Millions site, seven Mega Millions jackpots have been won on a Friday the 13th. (For a little irony, the number 7 is, of course, considered a lucky number.)
“Michigan has been especially lucky on that special day, with four winning jackpots (June 2008, May 2011, June 2014, and one shared with Rhode Island in October 2017),” a post on megamillions.com states. “The game’s third-largest prize to date ($1.348 billion) was won in Maine on Friday, January 13, 2023. Friday the 13th jackpots were also won in New York in March 2009 and in Ohio in November 2015.”
Because Florida Lotto (and Powerball) drawings are not on a Friday, there will never be a Friday the 13th Florida Lotto (or Powerball) winner.
Biggest lottery winner ever Edwin Castro, known for $2.04 billion Powerball, claimed the cash on Valentine’s Day
Saturday, Feb. 14, Florida Lotto and Powerball drawings are on Valentine’s Day in 2026. Here’s a look back at the significance of that holiday for one very lucky winner.
Edwin Castro of Altadena, California, sole winner of the $2.04 billion Powerball drawing on Nov. 7, 2022, opted for the lump sum, which was just shy of $1 billion, according to the California Lottery. Castro bought the ticket that matched all five numbers plus the Powerball from Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, California.
Declining to appear on camera, Castro claimed his prize on Feb. 14, 2023 − Valentine’s Day − and received a check from the California Lottery for $997.6 million. In California, it is public record to know who won a Powerball, Mega Millions or California Lottery jackpot and where the winning ticket was sold. Rules vary in other states, such as Florida, where it is public record to know who won a lottery jackpot, though winners in that state can claim their grand prize through a trust or LLC.
In October 2025, the Wall Street Journal reported Castro walked away with $768 million.

Does Walmart sell lottery tickets? Where to buy lottery tickets in Florida
In Florida, most gas stations and some grocery stores sell lottery tickets. It’s harder to find a gas station that doesn’t sell Powerball, Mega Millions, Florida Lottery and scratch-off tickets than it is to find one that does.
Publix also sells lottery tickets and is known for selling many winning tickets. A lesser-known location is Walmart. Whether the Walmart location closest to you sells lottery tickets depends on your state and the store. Many Walmart locations in Florida have self-service lottery ticket vending machines or sell lottery tickets at the customer service desk.
You can use the “Where to Play” search tool on the Florida Lottery website to find a grocery store or gas station near you that sells lottery tickets.
