Indian River County firefighters doused a home fire on Sixth Street, displacing two residents, fire officials said late afternoon May 15.
A Fire Rescue crew arrived in the 2500 block of 6th Street, responding to an emergency call around 3:19 p.m. May 14, after a neighbor reported the fire.
Heavy fire was seen mostly at the back of the single-story house with smoke rising from the building’s eaves and roof.
The fire was under control within 30 minutes, Fire Rescue officials said.
No one had to be evacuated, and the fire did not spread beyond the house. There were no injuries.
After the fire was extinguished, the house was uninhabitable, displacing the two residents who were not home during the fire.
Security cameras in the house alerted them to the fire, officials said.
The Red Cross’ Disaster Action Team responded and helped the two people with emergency financial assistance, health and mental health resources and recovery assistance free of charge.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation according to Indian River County Fire Rescue.
