It was not the outcome that the Gator Nation had hoped for on Saturday, when Florida football fell to the Georgia Bulldogs, 24-20, in what seemed like a perfectly winnable game for interim head coach Billy Gonzales in his first-ever game at the helm of a collegiate program.
Instead, the Orange and Blue is now 3-5 on the season and facing yet another losing season.
But it is not all doom and gloom in Gainesville, as at least one objective metric still shows a bullish attitude toward the Gators. ESPN’s Football Power Index has ignored both the US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 so far this fall, and that trend continued following Week 10’s gridiron action.
Here is where Florida landed after its third Southeastern Conference loss of the 2025 campaign.
Where Florida football ranks in ESPN’s FPI after Week 10
Last week’s FPI rankings had the Gators ranked 27th in the nation, up from a No. 29 ranking the previous week. This time around, Florida finds itself up another two spots and back into the top 25 at No. 25 with a 10.7 overall rating — up from 10.2.
That puts Billy G’s team between the No. 24 Florida State Seminoles and No. 26 Louisville Cardinals.
FPI now predicts a 4.8-7.2 regular-season record, along with a 3.4% chance of winning out. Additionally, Florida’s chance of reaching the six-win mark fell from 29.7% to 21.9%. ESPN still gives the Gators 0% odds to win the conference and a 0% chance to make the College Football Playoff.
Florida was ranked 18th to start the season.
