Florida baseball’s rising sophomore outfielder Cash Strayer will participate in the Cape Cod Baseball League’s 35th annual East vs. West All-Star Game on Saturday, July 18.
Strayer played in 18 games for Brewster Whitecaps this summer, slashing .281/.408/.474 across 57 at-bats while amassing two doubles and three home runs along with 12 runs scored, 10 RBI, 11 walks and four stolen bases. He also recorded a perfect fielding percentage with one assist over 11 defensive chances in right field.
All 10 Cape Cod League managers were responsible for selecting the All-Star Game’s 28-man rosters. Strayer will serve as a reserve outfielder at the event, representing the only Gator among the 10 playing in the league this summer.
During his true freshman campaign with the Gators last spring, the Tampa, Florida, native appeared in 32 games with 30 starts — 29 in right field and once at designated hitter — and was thrust into the thick of the batting order 21 times, slotting in at cleanup thrice and fifth 18 times. Strayer put up a slash line of .272/.375/.447 for an .822 OPS in 103 at-bats, totaling four homers, four doubles and one triple, along with 26 RBI, 22 runs and 16 walks while contributing five sacrifice flies for his team.
