Flagler Cares recently achieved national COA accreditation through Social Current — “one of the most respected marks of excellence in the human services field,” according to a press release from the local nonprofit.
Flagler Cares helps individuals and families by providing a safety net, behavioral health, youth development and prevention services in Flagler and Volusia counties.
“With a ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ approach, we meet neighbors where they are while seeking alignment with health and human services providers,” the release stated, adding that the nonprofit celebrated 10 years of work in 2025.
Additionally, One Voice for Volusia marked 25 years of work in 2026, the release stated. The two merged together under Flagler Cares, and One Voice for Volusia now works as the Substance Use Prevention Coalition and “neutral community facilitator in Volusia County, according to its website.”
The COA accreditation evaluated all aspects of Flagler Care’s programs.
“We proudly passed all areas with specific praise highlighting our compassionate and committed board of directors, dedicated staff, warm and welcoming office, and strong policies and procedures that help us support community transformation,” the release stated.
As part of the COA accreditation process, a group of specially trained volunteer peer reviewers performed a series of onsite interviews at Flagler Cares.
COA accreditation, a service of Social Current, is an independent, not-for-profit accreditor of community-based behavioral health care and social service organizations in the United States and Canada.
More than 2,000 organizations have either been accredited or are in the process. For information, visit social-current.org.
