Five people were hospitalized after a shooting in Reddick in the early morning hours of May 9, according to Marion County Sheriff’s Office officials.
Authorities said the shooting occurred at a gathering in the 15000 block of Northwest 44th Avenue Road.
Sheriff’s officials said they responded to the area around 1 a.m. in reference to a shooting. Arriving at the scene, officials said five people were injured and needed to be treated. They said when they got there, more than 100 people were on the property.
The event at the location, according to a flier, featured Boots and Dukes vs. Camo Country Takeover with $50 to the best dressed male and female.
Injuries
Those injured were four men and a woman. Law enforcement officials did not release any information about the victims, such as their names or where they’re from, other than to say they’re adults.
Four of the five individuals were transported locally to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital for treatment. The fifth was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville for treatment.
Officials said the injuries to the five were to their legs, the buttocks and the stomach.
Deputies said the injuries are considered non-life threatening.
As to what led to the shooting, officials said they’re still investigating and needs the public’s assistance to help them solve the case.
