BUNNELL — Italy’s café culture revolves around slowing down, savoring an espresso and, of course, never skipping dessert.
That’s just the vibe that Zia Maria’s Caffe has embraced since its opening in 2024 under owner and New Jersey native Maria Terranova Royer.
Here, simple sandwiches, like the chicken salad croissant, house-made from a family recipe, and prosciutto panini, share menu space with creamy gelato, seasonal espresso beverages and a colorful lineup of Italian pastries — all earning the Bunnell shop a 4.8-star rating online.
Light, yet indulgent, the café’s homemade tiramisu keeps you coming back for one more spoonful, balancing creamy mascarpone with espresso-soaked ladyfingers and a hint of cocoa.
While Italian cookies are a display case staple, other sweets range from raspberry tarts to delicately layered, ricotta-filled sfogliatella, almond horseshoe cookies and more chocolate-dipped creations.
Zia Maria’s Caffe is located at 2710 E. Moody Blvd. in Bunnell and is open from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday – Friday and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The café offers indoor dining, takeout and online ordering. For information, call 386-263-7009 or visit ziamariascaffe.com.
