Xavier Griffin, the No. 2 linebacker in the country, is FSU’s top target in the country and he is ready to make his commitment.
Griffin told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he will make his commitment on June 29 and will decide between the Seminoles, Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas Longhorns, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He decommitted from the USC Trojans earlier this month.
He is set to officially visit his four finalists, heading to Ohio State on May 30, Alabama on June 6, Texas on June 13, and FSU on June 15. The Gainesville, Georgia, product has visited FSU multiple times this year and they were the first school to offer him a scholarship back in 2023.
He is the No. 28 overall player and No. 2 linebacker in On3’s industry ranking. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder is also the No. 3 player from Georgia.
Griffin was limited to just eight games in his junior season for Gainesville High School. He was productive in his limited time, finishing with 43 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, and 6.0 sacks.
Linebackers coach John Papuchis already has one linebacker committed in Karon Maycock, but they need to add more talent to the linebacker room, and Griffin is someone the Seminoles can build their recruiting class around. The Seminoles have not signed a five-star prospect in the On3 industry ranking under head coach Mike Norvell.
