Elite 2027 LB commits to FSU

Florida State has had a wild week of decommitments as well as commitments in their 2026 class. Now, an elite talent from the 2027 cycle is on his way to Tallahassee.

Four-star linebacker Gregory Batson had been projected to FSU back in September. That became official on Friday as the Lee County High School star pledged to FSU.

Batson is the nation’s No. 337 recruit and the No. 21 linebacker per the Rivals industry rankings. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder is also the No. 38 prospect in the state of Georgia.

The Seminoles now have five commitments in their 2027 class. Batson is the first linebacker in the haul, as he joins four-star safety Mehki Williams, four-star cornerback Bryce Williams, three-star cornerback Jemari Foreman, and three-star tight end Connor Winn.

Florida State offered Batson in January. The Peach State product made several trips to Tallahassee after that, which included a Junior Day visit in March as well as unofficial visits in June, August, and October.

Batson had a monster season as a sophomore in 2024 with 100 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one pass breakup. In eight games this season as a junior, Batson has 48 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
