Eglin Parkway resurfacing project to begin in Okaloosa

Road improvements are on the way for Eglin Parkway. 

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is set to begin an $11.6 million resurfacing project on Eglin Parkway, also known at State Road 85, from Richbourg Avenue in Shalimar to U.S. 98 in Fort Walton Beach, according to a news release from FDOT.

What will the project include?

• Sidewalk and crosswalk improvements, including Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades.  

• Signalization upgrades.  

• Stormwater management enhancements.  

• New signing and pavement markings.  

Will there be lane closures?

During construction, drivers may encounter periodic lane closures Sunday through Thursday evenings, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.  

“This project is part of FDOT’s continued effort to improve traffic flow and increase safety on state roadways,” according to the news release. 

When will the project be completed?

The resurfacing project is scheduled to be completed in late 2027, according to the news release.
