Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa was owned last week by the richest person in the world.
That’s because Oracle software cofounder, chairman and chief technology officer Larry Ellison — who purchased Eau in August 2024 for more than $277 million — briefly overtook Elon Musk as the globe’s wealthiest person, according to the updated-daily Bloomberg Billionaire’s Index.
How? Ellison’s net worth soared on Sept. 10 after a surge in Oracle’s stock price (which has since moderated) after the company released an impressive quarterly earnings report and hinted at having secured additional big-bucks customers.
That meant Ellison’s net worth in early September 2025 leapt by nearly $100 billion; after all, he’s Oracle’s largest individual shareholder.
Musk, owner of Tesla and SpaceX, now is back on top as the world’s richest person, according to daily billionaire indexes, with Ellison in the second seat.
Net worths can change each trading day, depending on stock-price fluctuations and other factors. Visit real-time billionaires’ lists for current richest-people indexes, such as that of Forbes and Bloomberg.
In addition to his technology interests, Ellison’s wealth also is derived from, among other things, real estate holdings.
They include a residential estate in Manalapan, where Ellison’s ownership of Eau Palm Beach Resort means presiding over a 6-acre luxe property with private beachfront and a host of sought-after amenities.
Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa is home to such dining venues as an outpost of the famed Nobu chain, featuring Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine.
Various other resort properties Ellison owns, such as Porcupine Creek in Rancho Mirage, California, and the Four Seasons Resort Lanai in Hawaii, also have become sought-after Nobu locations, with dining experiences in partnership with Nobu’s Japanese chef, Nobu Matsuihisa.
