Dolphins vs. Falcons live updates: Start time, TV channel for Week 8 game

Both the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons will be dealing with injury troubles when they meet in a Week 8 game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Falcons are expected to be without quarterback Michael Penix Jr., forcing the team to turn back to its former starter Kirk Cousins. Atlanta also added No. 1 wide receiver Drake London to its injury report with a hip issue.

Dante Trader, Chop Robinson help force turnover on downs

With Ashtyn Davis and Ifeatu Melifonwu both dealing with injuries, fifth-round rookie Dante Trader Jr. has been forced into action more than usual and has risen to the occasion. On a pass that was nearly a big gain for KhaDarel Hodge, Trader made an excellent play to jar the ball free and break up the pass.

Two plays later, the Falcons turned it over on downs when Chop Robinson forced an errant pass that sailed out of bounds.

Jaylen Waddle extends lead to 21 with 43-yard touchdown

The Dolphins offense chipped away with run after run along with the occasional short pass to keep the chains moving. But just after crossing midfield, Miami took its strike downfield with Tagovailoa hitting Jaylen Waddle in stride across the middle of the field. Waddle did the rest, running untouched for a 43-yard touchdown to put the Dolphins up three scores.

Dolphins scoop up Bijan Robinson fumble

After a pass interference call on Rasul Douglas moved the Falcons into Dolphins territory, Robinson coughed it up all on his own when he appeared to jar the ball free from his own arms with his knee. Tyrel Dodson scooped it up for the first turnover of the game.

Dolphins go 3-and-out too

Just like the first half, the two teams started the second half by trading ineffective possessions. A pair of run plays resulted in net of zero yards, and a short pass to Achane picked up just 3.

Falcons open second half with 3-and-out

While a 6-yard gain for Bijan Robinson on first down seemed to show Atlanta was ready to turn over a new leaf in the third quarter, the Dolphins defense buckled down with a run stuff followed by a pass that fell for an incompletion.

Tua finds Malik Washington for touchdown in final seconds of first half

With less than 20 seconds on the clock and no timeouts, the Dolphins had time for a few shots at the end zone before halftime. They only needed one. On first down, Tagovailoa rolled to his left and fired to Washington, who barely snuck into the end zone near the front pylon to put Miami up 17-3.

Jordyn Brooks sack helps force another Falcons punt

A good gain for David Sills had the Falcons in good shape, but Brooks changed that by flying into the backfield to sack Kirk Cousins.

An errant pass on third down forced the Falcons to punt on the next play.

Riley Patterson field goal puts Dolphins back up 7

While a 22-yard play for Jaylen Waddle put the Dolphins in the red zone, the drive fizzled with a pair of short gains followed by a screen pass that was nearly intercepted. But Patterson nailed a 34-yard field goal to make it a 10-3 lead for Miami.

Jordyn Brooks, Dolphins defense force punt from Falcons’ own end zone

After a great punt from Jake Bailey pinned the Falcons deep, Brooks stuck them on the 1-yard line by firing through the line and nearly dragging down Tyler Allgeier for a safety. Atlanta settled for a couple short runs just to get breathing room and punted the ball back to the Dolphins, who will start a drive on the Falcons’ 40-yard line.

Zach Sieler TFL forces Falcons to settle for field goal

On a run play headed away from him, Sieler knifed through the Falcons line and dragged down Tyler Allgeier from behind to leave Atlanta with a fourth-and-2. While the Falcons converted a fourth down earlier in the drive, they didn’t press their luck and settled for three points via a John Parker Romo 45-yard field goal.

Alec Ingold cleared to return

The Dolphins announced that Ingold was flagged to be evaluated for a concussion and was cleared to return to the game.

Dolphins on the board first with De’Von Achane touchdown

Miami put together a smooth, 13-play drive that spanned 79 yards. Ten of the 13 plays were runs with Achane, Ollie Gordon II, and Jaylen Wright all getting turns to pick up yardage. But one of the three pass plays was a dump from Tua Tagovailoa into the flat for an easy 3-yard touchdown for Achane.

Dolphins FB Alec Ingold sent to blue medical tent

One of the spotters determined that Ingold needed to be checked for an injury after the fourth down play. There’s no injury determination for the veteran fullback yet.

Falcons lose challenge of Dolphins first down

After Ollie Gordon converted a fourth down with a 1-yard run, Falcons coach Raheem Morris had his doubts about the spot. But a replay review determined that the officials had it right and Gordon reached the line to gain. The Falcons were charged a timeout.

Dolphins S Ashtyn Davis questionable to return with quad injury

A banged up Miami secondary is dealing with an injury early after Davis was sidelined in the first few plays of the game. The Dolphins say he’s questionable to return. Ifeatu Melifonwu replaced Davis in the lineup.

Miami defense gets a 3-and-out of its own

The Dolphins defense responded with two run stuffs followed by pressure forcing Kirk Cousins to settle for a check down on third down.

Dolphins go 3-and-out to open

After winning the coin toss, the Dolphins made the relatively rare decision to receive rather than defer to the second half. That move didn’t yield a hot start, though. The Dolphins offense opened with a quick three-and-out that ended with a sack.

Tua Tagovailoa has swollen eye, will wear visor

The mystery illness for Tagovailoa is a swollen eye, according to CBS sideline reporter Melanie Collins. As a result, Tagovailoa is now set to wear a visor for the first time in his career.
