The Miami Dolphins sent Jaylen Waddle and Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, respectively, this offseason in two trades that brought back draft picks for a rebuilding team.
At this point in the offseason, the Dolphins still have some players entering the final year of their contract who are looking for extensions, but there’s a chance that Miami capitalizes on this opportunity to move them now and get something in return.
One of those players is linebacker Jordyn Brooks, and Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport recently put together a mock trade that sees the Dolphins ship Brooks to the Cincinnati Bengals for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 fourth-round pick.
“The Cincinnati Bengals have been wildly aggressive this offseason, adding multiple pieces via free agency and trade,” Davenport wrote. “But the linebacker position remains a glaring weakness in the Queen City… If the Dolphins don’t plan to re-up him, the time to trade the 28-year-old is now. And given Cincinnati’s “all-in” approach to upgrading the defense this year, a package of picks headlined by a second-rounder is a deal worth making.”
Brooks joined the Dolphins in 2024 after four years with the Seattle Seahawks. After a strong first year with the team, he led the NFL in tackles in 2025 and earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors for the first time in his career.
Miami may want to keep their defensive leader around for the foreseeable future, but if the two sides can’t get a long-term deal done, a trade may be imminent.
