The Miami Dolphins traded out Tua Tagovailoa for Malik Willis this offseason and replaced wide receivers Tyreek Hill, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Jaylen Waddle with a trio of veterans and another trio in the 2026 NFL draft.
Among those that they drafted is Louisville’s Chris Bell, who suffered a torn ACL in his final season with the Cardinals. Prior to the injury, he caught 151 passes for 2,166 yards and 12 touchdowns in 47 games in college.
While Bell hasn’t been on the practice field for the first days of OTAs due to his recovery, his performance in college certainly caught Willis’ attention.
“I mean, look at his tape, it’s insane,” Willis said. “But I’ve just got to get them back healthy and we can take it one day at a time.”
Miami needs someone to step up at wide receiver, with the room filled with fringe starters and inexperienced youngsters. If Bell can return to form during his rookie season, there’s a chance that he ends up as the top guy on the team’s depth chart.
However, the Dolphins aren’t expected to accomplish much in 2026, so they may be willing to let Bell sit out a good part of the year to make sure he’s good to go when he does officially get back on the field.
