INDIANTOWN — Martin County Fire Rescue crews were battling flames at the Florida Power and Light plant the afternoon of June 20, according to fire officials.
No injuries were reported, according to Fire Rescue spokesperson Cory Pippin. He said it took crews about an hour to douse the fire.
Pippin said crews were dispatched just before 11:30 a.m. to the plant for an active fire.
Crews isolated the flames to a single transformer and remained on scene to monitor any effected equipment to ensure there were no flare-ups.
Crews had the fire mostly contained just before 12:30 p.m., fire rescue officials stated on social media.
Pippin said according to Florida Power and Light, the incident is under investigation.
The fire was “quickly and completely” extinguished, according to a statement from Florida Power and Light spokesperson Chris Curtland.
“All personnel are safe and the plant remains operational,” Curtland said. “We appreciate the quick response by Martin County Fire Rescue.”
