Could the Bucs look to add a dynamic tight end next draft cycle?

The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Bucs still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 12 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup for the team and who they may add to the roster through the draft in a class that many are saying could be one of generational wealth.

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler recently released the latest way-too-early 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going offense and with an Oregon tight end after being mocked Kenyon Sadiq for weeks ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. With Oregon having the best tight end early on in the scouting process for 2027, and the Bucs once again needing more dynamic play from the position, it is a match made in heaven.

Brugler explains the Johnson pick, writing, “Kenyon Sadiq was the Ducks’ top tight end last season, but it was impossible not to notice Johnson and his impact catching the football. There’s a high chance Oregon will produce a top-50 pick at tight end for the third straight year.”

The Bucs like Cade Otton, they are happy with him, but couldn’t they benefit from some more dynamic playmaking at the position?
