Computer-simulated mock draft fails to address top need for Jaguars

With the 2026 NFL draft almost here, let’s run through a full seven-round mock for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but with a twist — the computer will make all of the selections.

Using Pro Football Network’s mock draft machine, this mock draft was completely computer-simulated to take as much of the human element and as many biases as possible out of the equation.

So, who did the Jaguars come away with? Let’s break down the selections with our overall takeaways from how things unfolded.

Jaguars picks in computer-simulated 2026 NFL mock draft

Safety and running back right away?

These are two positions that the Jaguars could add to at some point, but right away? It sure feels like those picks could have been better utilized elsewhere. Still at safety for the Jaguars are Eric Murray, Antonio Johnson, Caleb Ransaw, Rayuan Lane, and others. While at running back, the Jaguars have Chris Rodriguez, Bhayshul Tuten, and LeQuint Allen. Neither position is a pressing need.

Jaguars’ needs at WR, TE, and OL

The Jaguars’ adding to each of those units is in play. The team’s pursuit of Jake Bobo earlier this offseason tells us that wide receiver is still on James Gladstone’s radar. The offensive line unit may not have experienced any turnover this offseason, but in 2027, there could be a lot, and the draft is about planning ahead — not to mention that the Jaguars embraced competition within this unit last season. Then at tight end, ESPN’s Jordan Reid wrote that tight end is one of the positions that the Jaguars are “expected to target right away on Day 2.” That said, do the Jaguars double-dip at tight end and along the offensive line? That I’m not so sure of.

Where are the defensive line additions?

Both defensive end and defensive tackle are needs. In fact, they are two rather large needs that the Jaguars have. Depth and more pass-rush juice are needed. However, for some reason, the computer didn’t make any additions t either position.

Other quick takeaways

– Cornerback is not a major need, but I would guess that the Jaguars add to that room before Round 7.

– Without Devin Lloyd, the linebacker position can be added to — even with a top 100 pick. However, this is a crowded position group and one that Gladstone seems bullish about, so I don’t know that we’ll see multiple additions here.
