A judge in Collier County has reserved ruling on a motion to set bond for a Miami man who crashed, killing one of his passengers, as he fled from authorities.
Jason Petion, 30, faces 10 charges, including vehicular homicide; reckless driving; and driving without a license. Court documents identified the victim as Patrice Surlerin Antilus, 30, of Miami.

Collier Circuit Judge Joseph Foster’s April 13 ruling comes after Petion filed a handwritten motion Sept. 8, 2025, and after his attorney, Ita Neymotin, filed a separate electronic motion March 4.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a call referencing a 2024 Kia sedan that fled from Collier County sheriff’s deputies on Interstate 75 the afternoon of Dec. 30, 2024.
The Kia fled south on Logan Boulevard at high speed, Petion ignoring a traffic signal at Vanderbilt Beach Road. He hit four vehicles as he evaded authorities, troopers said. Troopers reached speeds of more than 130 mph as they attempted to catch up.
Troopers said Petion suffered critical injuries. He had no driver’s license and an active warrant for fleeing officers in Dade County. Court documents indicate he had a separate warrant out of Martin County. He had two passengers, one, 30, who sustained critical injuries, and Antilus, who died at the hospital.
Court documents indicate Petion remained at the Lee County Jail. It was not clear by publication what charges he faces there. He has remained in custody without bond since his arrest in Collier County.
His next court hearing is a June 30 pretrial conference.
