Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s are expanding their footprint in Escambia County after the Development Review Committee approved the franchises to each develop a new location.
County documents show that the incoming Chick-fil-A will be developed on Mobile Highway, while the future McDonald’s will be developed on Sorrento Road after the DRC approved the pair of proposals on July 23 in a packed agenda.
Here’s what to know about the latest fast-food restaurants coming to Escambia County.
New Chick-fil-a coming to Mobile Highway
West Pensacola will be the latest area in Escambia County to get a new Chick-fil-A restaurant after a development proposal for the future restaurant was approved by Escambia County on July 23.
Developers were approved to build a 5,566-square-foot restaurant with two drive-through lanes, 74 interior seats, 12 exterior seats as well as 69 parking spots at 4735 Mobile Highway.
The new location will be under development on the corner of Mobile Highway and Tonawanda Drive, according to site plans, and both roads will have one access driveway into the restaurant.
The listed developer of the project is the Birmingham, Alabama, branch of RealtyLink LLC, a real estate development company that submitted updated plans on July 1 after receiving feedback from the county earlier in the year.
County officials asked developers to make multiple changes to their site plans, such as indicating the safest and shortest route into the restaurant as well as adding ADA-compliant parking, which were implemented into the latest drawings.
The Chick-fil-A project was initially filed with Escambia County last August and it was approved by the DRC nearly a year later on July 23.
New McDonald’s coming to Sorrento Road
McDonald’s is set to plant another set of golden arches in Escambia County, this time in southwest Pensacola.
The DRC approved plans to build a 3,694-square-foot McDonald’s at 10291 Sorrento Road with a pair of drive-through lanes and 40 parking spots, including two ADA-compliant spaces.
The incoming restaurant will be developed next to a Take 5 Oil Change that was approved during the same meeting.
This will be the second McDonald’s on Sorrento Road and it’ll serve as a middle point between the global chain’s two existing locations in the southwest part of the county. But first, developers have to demolish the Synovus Bank that used to operate at the lot.
This project was initially submitted to Escambia County last July and the DRC approved the proposal a little over a year later during their July 23 meeting.
Developers submitted updated plans to the county multiple times for this project, including three filings since March.
