Palm Beach County girls lacrosse programs are still alive and well in the midst of regional playoffs.
Several local teams are still in the race to win a state championship, highlighted by American Heritage-Delray’s bid to return to the Class 1A title game. Wednesday pitted those teams against their respective opposition, all in regional semifinal matches.
Winners advanced to the regional finals, which will be held on Friday, May 2, hosted by higher seeds, with a chance to play in the state semifinals at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples, Florida.
Here is how each Palm Beach County girls lacrosse team performed in their regional semifinal matchup.
Class 1A
American Heritage-Delray 20, St. Edward’s 2
St. Andrew’s 14, Pine Crest 4
The No. 1 Stallions (18-1) will host the No. 3 Scots (14-5) in the regional championship match.
These two teams faced off in both the district and regional championships last season, with Heritage-Delray emerging victorious in both.
In that regional contest, Emma Hrzich led the way with six goals scored, though she has since graduated. In her wake, players like Lily Svirsky, Madison Vargas, and Jamie Woelfel headline a talented senior class this time around that will give the Scots their fair share of attackers to keep tabs on.
St. Andrew’s returned many of their stars from last year as well, and junior Bella Virtue will look to build on her three-goal outing from last year’s regional matchup.
Heritage-Delray’s season is tied to annual title-or-bust aspirations, having won the state championship in 2018, 2021, 2023, and 2024.
Class 2A
St. Thomas Aquinas 14, Jupiter 4
