Mario Cristobal’s decision to add quarterback Carson Beck from the transfer portal this offseason looks to be paying off for No. 6 Miami early on in the 2025 college football season.
Beck has completed 65 of 82 passes (79.3%) for 812 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions in wins over No. 5 Notre Dame, Bethune-Cookman and No. 23 South Florida. His performances have made the Hurricanes (3-0) a legitimate contender to make the College Football Playoff.
When Florida (1-2) comes to town on Saturday, Sept. 20, Beck will see familiar faces on the opposing sideline. Beck began his career with Georgia in 2021 and will face the Gators for the third time as a starter in his collegiate career.
Beck has generally performed well against the Gators, posting wins in back-to-back seasons in 2023 and 2024 vs. Billy Napier and Florida. Here’s what you need to know about Beck’s experience against Florida, including his stats and record vs. the Gators:

Beck is 2-0 against Florida in his career. In his first matchup against the Gators on Oct. 28, 2023, Beck’s 41-yard touchdown pass to Ladd McConkey gave the Bulldogs a 10-7 lead near the end of the first quarter. Georgia never looked back, as it went on to defeat Florida 43-20. Beck completed 19 of 28 passes for 315 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Last year on Nov. 2, 2024, Beck threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns again, but struggled a lot more against the Gators’ defense, throwing three interceptions, despite Georgia coming out ahead 34-20. Beck’s 22-yard pass to Cash Jones late in the third quarter gave the Bulldogs their first lead since the first quarter. Beck threw the go-ahead touchdown with 4:01 left in the fourth quarter to Dominic Lovett.
Despite being on Georgia’s team since 2021, Beck did not appear in any other games vs. Florida, as he sat behind former Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett IV.
