No one has claimed the Powerball jackpot, as of Thursday, Sept. 4.
After no one matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Sept. 3 drawing, the grand prize jumped to $1.70 billion with a $770.3 million one-time lump-sum option.
Although there was no perfect match, several secondary winners emerged. Four tickets purchased in Michigan, Oregon, Texas, and Wyoming matched five numbers plus the Power Play to win $2 million, and 11 tickets from these states matched five numbers to win $1 million: two in California, two in Georgia, a ticket in Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
As the jackpot reaches record-breaking territory, some might already be imagining how they’d spend their winnings. Do Floridians need to go public if they win? Here’s what to know.

Can Florida lottery winners remain anonymous?
According to the Florida Lottery’s website, winners cannot remain anonymous: “Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide records containing information such as the winner’s name, city of residence, game won, date won, and amount won to any third party who requests the information.”
However, the site also states that the “names of lottery winners claiming prizes of $250,000 or greater will be temporarily exempt from public disclosure for 90 days from the date the prize is claimed, unless otherwise waived by the winner.”
Experts and lottery lawyers have said there are ways for Florida winners to maintain their anonymity, such as setting up a trust or limited liability company (LLC) to claim winnings.
When is the next Powerball drawing?

Here’s how to play the Powerball
To play the Powerball, you have to buy a ticket for $2. Once you have your ticket, you need to pick six numbers. Five of them will be white balls with numbers from 1 to 69. The red Powerball ranges from 1 to 26.
Players can add a “Power Play” for $1, which increases the winning for all non-jackpot prizes. The “Power Play” multiplier can multiply winnings by: 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X.
The “Quick Pick” option is also available for players, where computer-generated numbers will be printed on a Powerball ticket.
To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball.
Where to buy Powerball tickets in Florida
Powerball tickets can be purchased at gas stations, convenience stores and grocery stores.
You cannot purchase tickets online in Florida.
“Tickets must be purchased from any of the more than 13,000 authorized Florida Lottery retailers in the state of Florida,” the agency said on its website.
