In 2024, the Bucs defense struggled to remain healthy, and as a result, they could never find their groove. This offseason, Jason Licht did his best to add some depth pieces, draft some new starters, and sign some playmakers to make the unit foolproof.
Sadly, through two weeks of the preseason, that plan is not looking good.

When the Bucs opened practice on Tuesday following their preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, they were missing a laundry list of players from practice. The majority of them were on defense, but the offense is also not immune to the injury bug and the disease he has been spreading around the team over the last couple of years.
Fox Sports’ Greg Auman provided a list of players who are missing from practice, it includes:
Auman points out that most of the defensive starters at this point are healthy. Morrison could earn some starting snaps, but they are healthy otherwise. Offense, of course, is missing Chris Godwin Jr., still with his ankle injury, but McMillan is a new addition with his neck injury.
There’s a lot to keep track of with the Bucs as we are now two weeks away from the regular season.
