The Miami Dolphins have completed their organized team activities and minicamp sessions and are currently in the middle of the break before they return for their first training camp under new head coach Jeff Hafley.
Over the last several months since Hafley and new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan have taken over, the roster has undergone significant changes, with plenty of players coming and going.
At this point in the offseason, the Dolphins have $12.06 million in cap space (per Spotrac), which ranks 22nd among the 32 teams. However, we’re still waiting for the official terms of Aaron Brewer’s extension, so that space could change a bit.
Looking at the salary cap for Miami, they have allocated slightly more to the offense ($61.86 million) than they have to the defense ($58.52 million). The real problem is the dead cap, as the Dolphins have $179.21 million spent on players no longer on the roster.
