A body was found by a person fishing the shoreline of the Indian River Lagoon in Sebastian, Indian River County sheriff’s officials said July 7.
The body, identified only as an adult man, was found shortly after 2 p.m. July 6 near the shoreline, just south of the bridge on U.S. 1, near the Brevard County line, said sheriff’s Lt. Kevin Jaworski.
Sheriff’s deputies went to the scene and confirmed the man was dead, Jaworski said. It’s unknown how the man died or how his body ended up near the shoreline.
An autopsy would be performed by the medical examiner, who also went to the scene, Jaworski said. The man hadn’t been identified as of July 7.
Sheriff’s detectives were investigating the incident as a suspicious death. Anyone with information should contact the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
