Fire hydrant replacement brings detour in downtown South Bend

SOUTH BEND — The southbound lane of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between Washington Street and Jefferson Boulevard will close Wednesday, July 8, to replace a fire hydrant, the city announced in a press release July 7.

The detour route for southbound traffic will be west on Colfax Avenue, south on Main Street, then east on Western Avenue before rejoining Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.

The anticipated reopening date is end of day Thursday, July 9, weather permitting.
