Blue-chip WR is 'super happy' with his FSU commitment, but his recruitment isn't over

The FSU Seminoles have one of the best wide receiver recruiting classes in the country, with five four-star prospects committed in their 2026 recruiting class. The most recent addition is Jasen Lopez, who is set to play basketball and football for the Seminoles.

He was recently at the OT7 Playoffs and spoke with Marcus Benjamin of Rivals about his recent pledge to the Seminoles.

“Me and my family are super happy with the decision we made,” he said. “We just kind of felt it was the best fit for me and the family, and playing both sports. I’m a different situation than a lot of other kids. So I felt like that was the best fit and situation for me.”

He is ranked as the No. 252 overall player and No. 43 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also considered the No. 121 basketball player and No. 11 point guard in the 247Sports composite rankings, making him FSU’s only commit in the 2026 recruiting class and the highest-ranked basketball product Luke Loucks has landed since taking over as FSU’s head coach.

While he is happy with his commitment, he did make it clear that he is not ready to end the recruiting process.

“I’m not going to shut it down. I’m going to stay in contact with other coaches, so yeah, this isn’t me shutting down my recruitment. It’s just me committed to a school verbally.”

The Seminoles landed him over the hometown Miami Hurricanes, and it sounds like they will need to fend off them and several other programs until signing day.Lopez emerged as Chaminade-Madonna’s No. 1 receiver as a junior, catching 87 passes for 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 14.9 yards per catch. He averaged 25.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.1 steals per game on the hardwood.
