BJ Gibson has decided to leave the Florida State football program and join the Seminoles baseball program full-time.
The news was first reported by Warchant and confirmed by the Tallahassee Democrat, with an FSU spokesperson saying Gibson has decided to “focus solely on baseball.”
Gibson saw limited reps with the football program, listed as a backup punt returner this year and a third-string wide receiver.
He found more success on the diamond for the Seminoles in his freshman season, playing in 21 games, starting nine, and hitting .242 with three doubles, four RBI and 11 runs scored while playing outfield. He will join the baseball program immediately as the Seminoles come off a 42-16 season that ended in the NCAA Super Regionals.
FSU will play Mississippi State in a fall scrimmage in Pensacola on Saturday, Oct. 18.
