Bicyclist struck and killed in Escambia County late Tuesday

A bicyclist was killed late Tuesday evening after he was struck by an SUV on N W Street in Escambia County.

The 42-year-old Pace bicyclist was riding his bike in the southbound outside lane of N W Street, north of Lenox Parkway, at about 11:45 p.m. May 26 and was in front of an SUV driven by a 45-year-old Pensacola man. The driver of the SUV failed to observe the bicyclist in the roadway due to low light condition and struck the bicycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The rider was pronounced deceased on scene.
