Welcome to the home stretch of the 2025 TCPalm Spring All-Area award season.
As we’ve reached the second-to-the last sport to be recognized, it’s time for the top girls track and field athletes to be honored, highlighted by a repeat state champion that hails from Vero Beach.
Elsewhere, a pair of sisters from Sebastian River were recognized as each were podium bound with state runner-up finishes.
We are nine sports down in our reveal of the top athletes from the spring. It all concludes with the All-Area Baseball, set to be released on Sunday.
Without further ado, here are the stars from the girls track and field season.
Athlete of the Year
Taylor-Nicole Overton, Vero Beach
Year: Junior
Vero’s top runner is the repeat winner of the top award after repeating at the biggest meet of the year. Overton went back-to-back as a 4A state champion at the 400-meter run. She crossed the finish line with a personal-record time of 52.82, more than a second ahead of her closest competition. The junior also claimed fourth in the 100 and second in the 200. She swept the three events during districts and regionals. Earlier this month, Overton committed run collegiately at Tennessee.
All-Area Team
Natasha Bourne-Morgan, Somerset College Prep
Year: Junior
Hurdles were Bourne-Morgan’s strength throughout her junior campaign. She qualified for the 2A state meet in the 100-meter hurdles after placing third at districts and sixth at regionals. Bourne-Morgan finished her first state appearance with 13th-place effort. In March, the junior set a PR of 15.35 seconds in the event as she won the St. Lucie County Championship.
Chalize Bowman, Okeechobee
Year: Freshman
The youngest member of the All-Area team excelled primarily in the high jump, where she placed 13th at the 3A state meet with a height of 4 feet, 11-3/4 inches. She earned a district title before taking regional runner-up honors in that event.
Emerson Brinn, South Fork
Year: Senior
Named the Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year in the fall, Brinn has been selected to the All-Area Team six times, with the final four appearances coming with the Bulldogs. At the 3A state meet, the University of Delaware signee maintained her status as the area’s best long-distance performer by taking seventh at the 1,600 while helping South Fork’s 3,200 relay team to an eighth-place result. She was a district champion and regional runner-up in the 1,600 while being a district runner-up and a fourth-place finisher in the 3,200.
Azariah Gibson, Vero Beach
Year: Senior
Gibson returns to the All-Area Team after qualifying for a pair of events for the 4A state meet, finishing 14th in the 400 hurdles and 12th as part of Vero’s 1,600 relay team. The senior earned third place in each event at regionals. She was a district champion in those two events, plus the long jump. Gibson was also a district runner-up in the triple jump.
Jamaiya Holson, Sebastian River
Year: Sophomore
The first half of a fantastic sister combo was the 3A runner-up in the discus with a personal-record throw of 148 feet, 3 inches. She also set a PR during a fifth-place state finish in the shot put (41-4 1/2). Holson was the district and regional champ in the discus. At districts, the sophomore placed second and fourth at the shot put and javelin, respectively. She was third in the shot put and sixth in the javelin at regionals.
Joniah Holson, Sebastian River
Year: Senior
The older Holson makes up the second half of the Sharks’ sister combo. Making an All-Area Team appearance in each of her four years, the senior ended her prep career by capturing 3A runner-up in the shot put with a PR of 45-8 1/2. She also placed ninth in the discus. Joniah Holson was the district and regional champ in the shot. In the discus, the senior placed second at districts and fifth at regionals. She’ll compete next season at Division I Penn.
Kimorah Jones, St. Lucie West Centennial
Year: Junior
Jones was a state qualifier in the long jump, placing 15th in the 4A state meet. That performance followed a fifth-place effort at regionals where she turned in a personal-record mark of 18-1 1/2. At districts, she was a runner-up in the long jump, fourth in the 200 and fifth in the 100.
Jacquelyn Perrin, St. Edward’s
Year: Sophomore
Another cross country star saw her skills translate well to the spring. Perrin was a 1A state qualifier in three events, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 800. She additionally took ninth in the 1,600 and helped the Pirates’ 3,200 relay claim 11th. The sophomore was a district champion in the 1,600 and 3,200 and a region champion in the 1,600. She was the 800 runner-up at both districts and regionals.
Nayo Wright, Somerset College Prep
Year: Senior
The final member of the All-Area team is the second Spartan to make the list. Wright earns her spot thanks to a fourth-place finish in the long jump at the Class 2A meet. She turned in a leap of 18-1, less than four inches behind a personal record she set earlier this season. The senior was a district champion in the long jump before taking sixth at regionals.

Coach of the Year
Aaron Overton, Vero Beach
Aaron Overton, the father of AOY Taylor-Nicole Overton, earned the nod after leading his program to the area’s best state finish. With six qualifiers, Vero Beach finished tied for seventh with 23 points at the 4A state meet. It’s the second year in a row that the program has produced a top-10 state finish. Vero won the District 8-4A title before placing fifth at regionals.
