If you own a electric vehicle (EV), or if you are thinking of buying one, great comfort comes from knowing there’s a charging station nearby if you need one.
A recent study revealed some good news for EV owners and prospective buyers in SW Florida.
The research from Compare the market, shows Florida is the third leading state for EV charging infrastructure (places to recharge your vehicle). But the demand is high.
Two Southwest Florida cities rank among Florida’s top cities for EV investment, according to the study. Naples is ranked No. 9 overall with 86 locations. Fort Myers is No. 11 with 71 locations.

Florida EV study data: What to know
The study analyzed electric vehicle registrations and public charging infrastructure across all 50 states to identify where drivers face the greatest demand for charging facilities.
Key findings for Florida:
According to a press release, despite having the third-largest public charging network in the country, Florida is home to more than 254,000 registered EVs, resulting in one of the highest levels of demand on charging infrastructure nationwide.

California has been named the best state in America for electric vehicle charging infrastructure, boasting nearly 77,000 EV chargers across more than 21,000 charging locations.
New York ranks second overall, offering nearly 22,000 chargers spread across 5,756 locations, while Florida completes the top three with 16,477 chargers.
Texas stands out for its investment in rapid charging technology. Despite ranking fourth overall for total chargers, the Lone Star State is home to 5,144 DC Fast Chargers, the second-highest total in America and slightly ahead of Florida’s 5,050.
Hawaii has the highest level of competition for public EV chargers in America, with more than 21 electric vehicles competing for every public charging point.
