The American Music Awards returned May 25, on Memorial Day, for its 52nd year at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada — its largest venue yet.
And this year’s AMAs relished in nostalgia. The Memorial Day awards featured performances from the New Kids on the Block and the Pussycat Dolls with Busta Rhymes and a win for the Black Eyed Peas for best throwback song for “Rock That Body.”
However, the biggest throw-back moment may have been from rocker, Billy Idol. With a “Rebel Yell,” Idol stormed the American Music Awards as part of the celebration honoring his career.
Idol, 70, received the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award during the show, and showed why he is still “Vital Idol” after nearly 50 years of rocking with a sneer and spiked blond hair.
