Foghat and Nazareth rock Mount Dora

The Mount Dora Music Hall hosts a night of 1970s classic rock on May 15, when Nazareth and Foghat bring their Twang & Bang 2026 tour to celebrate their vintage rock sound, fondly missed by so many, and both bands’ slew of hits. The evening kicks off at 8 p.m., with Nazareth set to perform their legendary hits such as “Love Hurts” and “Hair of the Dog” (covered by Guns N’ Roses). Founding bassist Pete Agnew is the soul of the band, having been with Nazareth since they formed as “The Shadettes” in 1968.

Following them, Foghat will perform their signature blues-rock anthems, including the crowd-favorite “Slow Ride,” which, in 2025, garnered the band a plaque celebrating more than 25 million streams on Apple Music. The 2026 tour serves as a continued victory lap for their 50-plus-year career. Original drummer Roger Earl remains the heartbeat with lead singer/guitarist Scott Holt (formerly of Buddy Guy’s band) praised by critics for bringing a “fresh fire” and “raw edge” to their classic boogie-rock sound. The venue is located at 520 N. Baker St., Mount Dora. Details: 352-735-7183 or visit mountdora.gov.

This production is brought to life by a crack ensemble led by Virginia Parker, with James Morrison and John Crosby sharing the role of the befuddled Arthur. ‘So Funny Sundays’ brings comedy to Eustis

The Hideaway Performing Arts Center shifts from drama to laughter on May 17 with So Funny Sundays. Starting at 4 p.m., this stand-up (and sit-down) comedy show features a live comedy recording for the House of Laughter clean comedy series, showcasing a lineup of (hopefully) non-cringey performers in an intimate theater setting. Hosted by James Yon, the lineup features J Da FunnyMan and Wes Johnson.

Johnson describes himself as a “disabled comedian” who finds humor in his day-to-day challenges. A U.S. veteran, he transitioned into comedy after a spinal cord injury and often jokes that he “started doing stand-up comedy when he finally couldn’t.” More mobile than you’d imagine, he’s headlined some impressive comedy festivals. Johnson is active in the adaptive sports community and frequently performs at charity events, such as those benefitting Brooks Adaptive Sports and Recreation. The theater is located at 431 Plaza Drive, Eustis.

J Da FunnyMan describes himself as a “Punchline Champion” and often uses the hashtag #SideToothMafia in his branding. His comedy typically covers family life, his experiences as a parent, and observational humor about daily life in Florida. Details: Visit Eventbrite or hideawaypac.ludus.com
