The Miami Dolphins are nearing the end of their time off, as rookies will report to their Baptist Health Training Complex on Tuesday, July 21, and veterans will follow on Tuesday, July 28, for the start of training camp.
With Miami moving on from some of their most productive players this offseason in favor of rookies and inexpensive veterans on one-year deals, fans will have to get familiar with some players who aren’t exactly household names yet.
Before camp starts, let’s look at four offensive players who could be under-the-radar contributors this year.
RB Jaylen Wright
Wright was Miami’s fourth-round pick (No. 120 overall) in the 2024 NFL draft after a four-year stay at Tennessee, where he earned All-SEC honors once. Over the last two years, the running back’s impact has been minimal, as he rushed for just 537 yards and two touchdowns on 3.9 yards per attempt and caught eight passes for 52 yards.
Heading into 2026, De’Von Achane will be the starter again, but Wright is in a battle for the backup spot with Ollie Gordon II. The 23-year-old needs to separate himself this year, as he’s rapidly approaching free agency in 2028.
WR Theo Wease Jr.
Wease split his collegiate career between Oklahoma (2019-22) and Missouri (2023-24), before Miami signed him as an undrafted free agent last year. As a rookie, he spent most of the season on the practice squad, but he played in the final three weeks of the year, catching six passes for 139 yards and a touchdown.
With Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Cedrick Wilson Jr. and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine all gone, the wide receiver room is completely open. Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik is one of the few holdovers from last year’s coaching staff, so he got to see what Wease did late in the season, so he might want to try and build on that.
TE Seydou Traore
Traore was born in France but was raised in London, England. He played collegiately at Arkansas State from 2021-22, earning All-Sun Belt honors once, and at Mississippi State from 2023-25. Miami took Traore in the fifth round (No. 180 overall) of this year’s draft.
The 23-year-old has the athleticism to be a weapon at tight end with his 6-foot-4, 244-pound frame and a 4.65-second 40-yard dash. If he flashes in camp, he could earn a roster spot and could play some meaningful snaps at some point this season.
OL Jamaree Salyer
Salyer played at Georgia from 2018-21, earning both All-SEC and All-American honors in his final season, which culminated in a national championship. After the Los Angeles Chargers took him in the sixth round (No. 195 overall) of the 202 NFL draft, he played 64 games and started 40 over the last four years.
Miami signed Salyer to a one-year deal this offseason, and he was expected to compete for a starting job before the Dolphins took Kadyn Proctor in the first round. However, Salyer could be the top backup, and if Jonah Savaiinaea doesn’t adjust well to right guard, the former Bulldog could be asked to start this season.
