1. HURRICANE SEASON: NCH gets new flood barrier system
Naples Comprehensive Health isn’t taking chances with storm surge such as the wall of water that devastated Southwest Florida during Hurricane Ian in 2022.
The hospital system in Collier County has acquired a barrier system to keep floodwaters from penetrating vulnerable door entrances of both of its hospitals that are not far from the Gulf.
NCH is the second hospital in Florida to purchase AquaFence, the same system that gained attention for protecting Tampa General Hospital in low-lying Davis Islands during Hurricane Milton in 2024. Tampa General first acquired the system in 2019.

2. RECALLED: Portable Generac generators recalled for fire risk
Almost 150,000 portable generators have been recalled for posing a serious fire hazard.
The Generac portable generators were sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s and other hardware stores around the United States and Canada.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission warned the generators are at risk of leaking gasoline while being filled, creating a significant fire and burn risk.
