Although Yaxel Lendeborg has yet to play an official NBA game, the former Michigan Wolverine made basketball history Sunday night, helping lead the Golden State Warriors to an NBA Summer League title, their first since 2013. Not only that, but Lendeborg took home MVP honors from the championship game, besting both Cedric Coward and No. 3 overall pick Cameron Boozer of the Memphis Grizzlies.
With the summer league title, Lendeborg is only the second player in NCAA and NBA history to win an NCAA title and an NBA Summer League title in the same year. The first was current Miami Heat guard Davion Mitchell, who won an NCAA title with the Baylor Bears and then hoisted the summer league trophy with the Sacramento Kings.
