This one just meant more. You could tell by the way players and coaches were talking throughout the week of practice, and it’s certainly evident in the way Sean McVay celebrated after the Los Angeles Rams’ 21-19 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
He ran into the locker room and went ballistic, celebrating and screaming with his players as if they had just clinched the NFC West. For the time being, they did take over first place in the division, and their narrow victory over one of the league’s best teams deserves to be applauded – even if it wasn’t one of the prettiest wins.
McVay was as fired up as he’s ever been Sunday, showing just how much the Rams put into this game.
“How about that (expletive) team?!” he yelled as he entered the locker room, jumping into a huddle with several players. “How about the (expletive) D, man?! Four interceptions!”
He recognized all three players who had a pick, with those being Kamren Kinchens, Darious Williams and Cobie Durant. He also gave Davante Adams credit for his 1,000th career catch, a 1-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Punter Ethan Evans got a big hug from his coach and a resounding scream from the rest of the team for his clutch 50-yard punt in the final two minutes, as well.
It was an elated locker room that’s building a lot of momentum with its fifth straight win, this one being against a division rival to take over first place in the West.
