The Golden State Warriors got their man at the 2026 NBA Draft, selecting Michigan’s Yaxel Lendeborg with the No. 11 overall selection Tuesday night.
Lendeborg will be able to contribute to Golden State’s rotation right away as one of the strongest wing defenders in the 2026 class. However, as opposed to other prospects, Lendeborg was one of the older players to hear his name called in round one. Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. addressed this after the draft but showed no signs of concern for his age. “He’s, what, 23, almost 24? I’m not worried because he’s not 38.” Dunleavy Jr. is, of course, joking, alluding to the fact that Steph Curry will be entering his age 38 season. But it’s clear to see that Lendeborg’s age isn’t a concern for Golden State, as they were one of the few lottery teams in a “win-now” mode.
