On Wednesday, the 2025 ESPYs took place in Los Angeles. Notably, the Trojan Marching Band took the event by storm with their tribute to the great Lee Corso.
However, that was not the only USC involvement with the event. In addition to the TMB, USC women’s basketball star Juju Watkins received the ESPY award for Best College Athlete — Women’s Sports.
Watkins is coming off of an incredible sophomore season in which she averaged 23.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while leading USC to a Big Ten title. However, her year ended in heartbreaking fashion when she suffered an ACL injury in the NCAA Tournament.
This is Watkins’ second year in a row earning an ESPY. Last year, she won in the Best Breakthrough Athlete category.
The ESPY is just the latest mark on Watkins’s already remarkable resume. Perhaps the most incredible part of it all is that she just turned 20 years old this past week. Although her injury will take some time to recover from, Watkins’s future looks incredibly bright.
