It appears as though the USC baseball team finally suffering its first loss of the 2026 season has not disrupted the Trojans’ hot start. After finally falling at Northwestern last weekend, USC returned home to Dedeaux Field and picked up nonconference victories over San Diego State and Cal State Bakersfield. Then over the weekend, the Trojans welcomed Washington to Los Angeles and picked up yet another sweep, winning all three games of the series.
On Friday, the Trojans shut out the Huskies 5-0 behind another dominant pitching performance from Mason Edwards. After a 7-2 victory on Saturday, USC put 14 runs on the board on Sunday and won 14-4 in a seven-inning mercy rule affair.
The Trojans are now a remarkable 24-1 on the season, including an 8-1 mark in Big Ten play. They currently sit in second place in the conference standings, behind only crosstown rival UCLA, who is 9-0 in the Big Ten.
USC and UCLA are set to face off in a massive series in Westwood in two weeks. This week, though, the Trojans will host Oregon State in an old Pac-12 battle on Tuesday, before traveling to Maryland for a three-game series over the weekend.
